Introducing BabyStar!
A soft cuddly friend full of activities designed to develop and improve fine motor skills in young kids ages 3 and up. BabyStar is a great learning tool for
growing children allowing them to practice becoming more independent
BabyStar is made up of many different feeling materials to stimulate your sense of touch and
sound and help children learn new vocabulary such as “smooth, rough, bumpy ect.”
All functional components can be used as learning activities as well as simple fidget devices to keep kids entertained for extended periods of time
The Process ✧・* ♡ ・゚
The design process almost always starts off with more than one idea, here was the 2nd concept i pitched for a potential kids toy:
Human is designed to teach children about the human body and its many functions, including the digestive tract, skeleton and organs. This toy can be enjoyed by kids in a range of ages, younger kids can start by identifying body parts like "leg, arm, neck, knee" older kids can start to explore what goes inside. ideally this toy would come with an illustrated book full of information for a more in-depth and independent learning experience

Here are the final sketches showing Babystar in multiple angles and how his features will work to help in the fabrication process.
Once Babystar was approved further research went into similar kids toys that were already on the market. keeping note of the features they had, their prices, where they're sold and materials they used. at this stage a more refined sewing pattern was made to create a solid plan of all the fabrics and pieces needed to bring him to life !

below is a gallery showing the full documented process of creating BabyStar from scratch! this part can often be overlooked in the design process but is just as important as any step. being able to look back on how you did things to be able to make changes for things that can be improved and note what parts are working well is always very helpful
